The greenish tinge through the hole in the clouds is a weak
Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights). All of the yellow is aurora
municipalis (Municipal Lights—sky glow from badly
designed municipal/commercial lighting that is reflected from
the clouds). This exposure (ISO 400, 10 seconds at
f/2.8 gives approximately the same impression that would be
seen if your eyes were dark-adapted. The streetlight and sky glow
in this scene would prevent complete dark adaption.
